What does cPanel's Directory Privacy feature do?

The Directory Privacy in cPanel is a feature which allows cPanel users to protect certain parts of their account simply by setting a password for specified directories within said account. Once enabled, the feature allows only those users who have the correct password to gain access to the restricted directory. Those users will be prompted to provide a username and a password.
