What does my domain transfer status mean?

Listed below are some of the most standard domain transfer statuses, used universally among domain registries:

  • Pending - Your domain name transfer has failed and we are now waiting for your assistance to restart it. Most probably either your EPP/ Authorization code was incorrect, or your domain is still locked with the current registrar.
  • Confirmation requested - An email has been sent to the administrative email address to approve the transfer but the link has not been clicked yet, this may be due to an invalid email address so please check the Whois information for the email associated with your domain name.

  • Pending Owner Approval - In case you did not submit your domain Authorization code (EPP key) during the transfer order or the EPP you provided was incorrect, we may restart the transfer without it. In this case, our registrar will send you an approval email to the administrative email address listed for the domain. You need to follow the instructions in that email in order to approve the domain name transfer. If your domain is on Pending Owner Approval, this means we are still waiting for you to approve the domain name transfer.
  • Pending Registry Approval/Pending Registrar Tag Change - Your transfer order has been submitted to our registrar with valid Authorization code (EPP) and we are now waiting for the final confirmation from the previous registrar and the registry before the transfer is complete. There is nothing you need to do on your end, just wait patiently until the transfer goes through.
  • Transfer requested - The domain name transfer is already in progress and we have notified the registry office to move the domain, this usually takes 5-7 days, no further steps need to be taken  on your end during this period.

  • Request transfer failed - The domain name transfer has failed, this is most likely due to the domain status which might be still set to "Locked", please check the Whois information or contact support for more information.

  • Domain resolution failed - The connection has timed out to the registry office after the transfer should have been completed and the completion check needs to be re-tried, please contact us for more information regarding this status.

  • Declined - Your transfer order has been declined by either the domain owner or the previous domain registrar.
  • Cancelled - Your transfer order has been cancelled. In case you did not request cancellation of this domain transfer, please contact us for more information.

Notes:

Beginning January 1, 2014, new ICANN rules related to domain registration/transfer ownership are in effect for all domain registrars. When you transfer a domain name with a registrar for the first time, the new rules require that a domain's transfer be validated via email. Validation email messages are sent to the listed WHOIS owner contact ( domain name administrative contact). If the verification process is not completed within 15 days, the domain name will enter a suspended state and will be locked against the additional activity or transfer.
