What is a Client? (In a Network)

A client is an application that runs on a computer and communicates with a server in order to perform its operations. For example, a web browser is a web client that enables you to request web pages from a web server. Filezilla is an ftp client that enables you to connect to a FTP Server and transfer files. Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird are mail clients that connect to a Mail server (POP3 or IMAP).
